ANDREW DEARMAN ART STUFF
Welcome
This website presents some of the ideas and images that I'm currently playing with. My intention is to use it to get ideas out into the world, as well as having something resembling a shopfront (via PayPal) for some of the photographs and other artworks that I make along the way.
Along with Instagram and Facebook, I’ll be using this website to organise and promote portrait making events where I’ll be using my Ugliboi Camara Minutera, which is the handmade camera that you see here.

Since 2006 I have presented quite a few international conference papers in Belgium, The Netherlands, Finland, Poland, and the UK. The papers were mostly on the topic of how we respond to the material qualities of photographs—that they operate as things in the world in their own right, not just as windows through which we see something that once was. Ideas of memory, place, and the material qualities of the image figure heavily in my writing. Only a couple of those papers have ever seen the light of day as publications, and so I’m hoping to rework them as illustrated self-published Zines.
In the meantime, much of my ongoing written and photographic research into the intergenerational inheritability of embodied memory of place will be presented on the Blogsite attached to this website, which can be accessed by clicking on 'Blog' in the top right corner of the top of this website. Feel free to contact me about any of the ideas.
